Callejo, a Los Angeles-based artist, educator, and activist, has played a major role in over 40 mural projects nationally and internationally. Among his public recognition and formal commendations from art institutions is an invitation by the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. to paint a mural for the Festival of American Folk Life. “From Paper to Wall” demonstrates how the mural process unfolds, from idea and concept, to proposal, design, and production, and the numerous people involved in this form of public art. During the exhibition, Callejo will be working and creating a new mural in the art gallery with assistance from SAC students.
