True Sioux Hope Foundation Fundraising Reception

True Sioux Hope Foundation Fundraising Reception

at Tamarind of London

True Sioux Hope Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit benefitting the poorest Native American reservation in the nation, will make its Orange County debut by hosting its first fundraising event at Tamarind of London in Newport Coast.

Orange County businesswoman, philanthropist, and Sioux Tribe member, Twila True, founded True Sioux Hope Foundation to facilitate unprecedented, permanent, positive change for the Sioux Tribe in South Dakota by providing much-needed funding for education and infrastructure. True Sioux Hope Foundation aims to rally the Orange County community in support of its mission to help an entire Native American population living in conditions equivalent to those found in the poorest third-world countries. Having spent her formative years on reservations, Twila True knows first-hand the courage that it takes to become a strong, independent modern American Indian.

The Sioux Tribe of Pine Ridge Reservation has an average annual household income of $3,500, a 90 percent unemployment rate, 70 percent high school dropout rate, a life expectancy of only 47 years for men, and the highest infant mortality rate on the continent. The reception is open to the public and RSVP is required. The evening’s sponsor, Tamarind of London, will be serving signature cocktails and small bites throughout the evening from its diverse and innovative menu. Tamarind of London is a contemporary Indian restaurant that pays homage to India’s flavorful traditional favorites while artfully integrating California’s robust selection of seasonal ingredients. Tamarind of London is located at 7862 East Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Coast. Tamarind of London is part of the Tamarind Collection, which owns and operates three additional restaurants in London. Over the years, and through its expansion into the U.S., Tamarind Collection’s fundamental philosophy has remained unchanged: to prepare exquisite food that is coupled with service that is approachable and unobtrusive in a stylish environment.

The fundraising reception will feature presentations from Founder Twila True, as well as an introduction to the Foundation’s current fundraising initiatives, and a call for the Orange County community to support the Foundation’s three pillars: education, sustainability and immediate assistance.
