CANCELED: Marvel Spotlight Plays

CANCELED: Marvel Spotlight Plays

Presented by Laguna Playhouse at No Square Theatre

Beginning Saturday, March 14, all performances have been cancelled.  The Laguna Playhouse will remain closed to public gatherings until further notice, per the recommendation. We are grateful to all the artists and craftspeople who are impacted by these upheavals in their professional schedules.

The Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre Program is unrivaled in our region for providing motivated teens an opportunity to learn theatre skills and stage craft in a professional environment. The program brings talented local youth, ages 10-18 together with qualified theatre professionals to explore acting, theatre production and dramatic literature. These education programs are committed to youth training that produces thinking, responsible individuals and prepares them for success in a diverse society.

The Youth Theatre Spring Production will be based on the award winning Marvel Plays, which explore universal challenges facing 21st century young adults, including self-image, understanding vulnerability, adjusting to change, the importance of responsibility, and being true to oneself.

The first set of plays released in the collection are Mirror of Most Value: A Ms. marvel Play by Masi Asare, where Kamala Khan has to accept herself just as she is - imperfections and all - if she is to become the hero of her dreams; Squirrel Girl Goes to College: A Squirrel Girl Play by Karen Zacarias, which follows Doreen Green as she attempts to reinvent herself and make "normal" human friends at a new school; and Hammered: A Thor & Loki Play by Christian Borle, where teenage Thor and Loki compete for the favor of their parents through Asgardian rites of passage.
