CANCELED: Bead Lecture @ Bowers Museum

CANCELED: Bead Lecture @ Bowers Museum

Presented by Bead Society of Orange County (BSOC) and Bowers Museum at Bowers Museum

For the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, and community, and in an effort to support public health officials in their efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19, the Bowers Museum will close temporarily to the public until further notice.

Join the Bead Society of Orange County (BSOC) for our monthly FREE speaker presentation with Janet Seward at the Bowers Museum.  Janet's topic, Who are you? Where are you? And back off! - Identity, Status, and Defense in Ornamentation around the World.  A potter turned wire-bending jeweler, Janet will consider the human need for defense, identity, and status as it is exhibited in personal adornment.  Examples from cultures around the world will be shown with an emphasis on the Latino/indigenous divide in Guatemala and the remnants of defense jewelry used on the Silk Trade Route and throughout Africa.

Presented by the Bead Society of Orange County, an affiliate council of the Bowers Museum.
