Descent - A New Contemporary Group Show Inspired by Dark Surrealism

at Unknown

Knowledge and perception is specific to oneself, but is essential to explore and examine one’s personal concept of reality. Beyond the perception of reality and diving into cultures perceived as taboo, each culture has attempted to understand the representation of cultural taboos. Mysticism, mortality and romanticism were common themes within the artistic, literary, and intellectual movement of the 18th century. Marcas Gallery would like to continue the artistic exploration through many mediums, subject matter and influences found within the arts. Descent presents a collection of work from twenty-one contemporary artists inspired by dark culture. The gallery explores and celebrates the darkness of the creative mind where it lies between the pit of one’s fears and the summit of one's knowledge. Please join us for a foray beyond the veil of the norm.

DESCENT, opens Saturday, October 3rd, with 32 works of art on display for the public in attendance and will remain on view through November 1st. Specific artists will be present.
