Presented as the second installment of The Pacific Project art video series, the museum showcases the work of Cambodian artist Khvay Samnang. The three separate works on view examine the concerns of rapidly developing societies and the impact that growth has on the well-being of residents. The artist's performance-based work, captured on video, focuses on land use. In the works Untitled and Where Is My Land, the artist concentrates on his home country of Cambodia, whereas in the work Air, he shifts his sights on Japan following the Fukushima Daiku nuclear plant.
This presentation continues the museum's tradition of focusing on artists from emerging art centers, particularly those around the Pacific Rim.
The Pacific Project: Khvay Samnang is organized by the Orange County Museum of Art.
