Kwanzaa is here, and there are so many fun things to do! Join us each day during the Festival of Kwanzaa to “light” a candle on the Kinara. Every day, we’ll celebrate a new Kwanzaa principle through a variety of activities including working at the family stand, making gifts for family and friends, playing Kwanzaa games, and even having a “feast”! These daily activities are a perfect way to begin teaching your children about the meaning and traditions of this joyous holiday.
Featured activities include (Activity times vary):
Friday, December 26: Kwanzaa Kinara
Saturday, December 27: Kwanzaa Placement/Quilt
Sunday, December 28: Kwanzaa Corn
Monday, December 29: Kwanzaa Necklace
Tuesday, December 30: Kwanzaa Kufi & Kwanzaa Unity Cup
*All activities are subject to change and limited to availability.
Grown-up Tip: Visit our library to share a special Kwanzaa-themed story time with your little one. Let your child read you a story. This is a special gift your child can give to you while expanding vocabulary, word association, and most importantly increase his or her appreciation for another’s culture and traditions.
