Showcasing FIDM 2020 Advanced Fashion & Theatre Costume Design Graduates, this celebration was originally planned for April 2020 before postponing it because of the pandemic.
The annual FIDM Debut Show, celebrating the creativity of graduating designers, will be streamed live on YouTube free with RSVP.
More than 100 garments will be seen in this virtual presentation of 10 Advanced Fashion Design students’ first collections. Four graduates in Theater Costume Design will present an array of designs interpreting the theme of Giacomo Puccini’s opera, Turandot. The fashion and theater costume designers-to-be, work over 9 months to create looks that will be featured on the runway.
FIDM Co-Chair of Fashion Design, Nick Verreos states, “We are so excited to have the fashion show in the incredible Cooper Design Building in Downtown L.A., and more importantly, all of you will have a front row seat to see the fabulous FIDM DEBUT Runway Show!”
“These collections showcase the diversity in design that makes Southern California the nucleus of style,” relates David Paul, FIDM Co-Chair of Fashion Design.
It is a great honor to be chosen for the FIDM Advanced Fashion Design and Theatre Costume Design programs since it requires design talent and academic achievement. After receiving an Associate of Arts degree, students are chosen each year to participate in these 3rd year programs. The FIDM Co-Chairs of Fashion Design, Nick Verreos and David Paul, have released this statement: Participants are chosen based on overall grade point average, references, portfolio review, talent, skill level and formal interviews with Department Chairs from FIDM…selection is made from hundreds of candidates.
This year’s Debut designers hail from countries all over the world, including Indonesia, Korea, Japan, Iran and across the United States.
