Faculty Artist Series: Trio de Janeiro

Faculty Artist Series: Trio de Janeiro

Presented by Claire Trevor School of the Arts at UC Irvine (CTSA) at University of California, Irvine - Winifred Smith Hall

Members of the Trio de Janeiro first met in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1990 and have been performing together at various national and international venues since, including appearances in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Violinist Haroutune Bedelian, cellist Armen Ksadjikian and pianist Lorna Griffitt will perform trios by Mozart, Schubert and Brahms.

On Saturday, January 9th, pianist Lorna Griffitt and violinist Haroutune Bedelian will be joined by Associate Principal Cellist of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Armen Ksajikian for an evening of two of the greatest piano trios.

The Schubert Trio in E-flat Major is a monumental and spiritual work, one of the last pieces written by this master of the art song.

The Brahms B Major Trio has been described as an unabashedly Romantic creation revealing the 20 year-old's apprehension,  pride, restraint and expectation of a soul in flower. Brahms revised the original trio towards the end of his life and this more mature version will be heard on this concert.

Don't miss this opportunity to experience chamber music played by the Trio de Janeiro,  a group who have performed together for many years at different international venues.
