JOHN DOAN: Beyond Six Strings – Beyond Borders and the Ordinary
John Doan is an Emmy Nominee (“Best Entertainment Special of the Year”) and pioneer of a new way of playing the guitar with twenty strings. He also received the “World’s Leading Harp Guitarist” Brand Laureate Award. John has appeared on NPR's "All Things Considered" and has written and starred in two television specials seen on PBS. He believes that concerts can be fun and entertaining as well as address today’s audience’s hunger for things that are timeless, beautiful and inspiring. His concerts are a celebration of music and the best of Culture.
In 2012, John mesmerized The Living Tradition’s audience with his “Celtic Pilgrimage” program. In this appearance, he presents "Beyond Six Strings - Beyond Borders and the Ordinary." The 1st half "Beyond Borders" is music composed from world travels in China, Europe and USA. The 2nd half "Beyond the Ordinary" is inspired from touring with John Fahey (Father of the American Fingerstyle Guitar), Burl Ives (Movie Star and Pioneer of Urban folk music), Mason Williams (of Classical Gas Fame), with a bow to Jimi Hendrix.
