Costumes of Anaheim Ballet's Nutcracker Virtual Exhibition

Costumes of Anaheim Ballet's Nutcracker Virtual Exhibition

Presented by Anaheim Ballet and Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center at Online/Virtual Space

Anaheim Ballet, the city’s resident ballet company, has been performing the audience favorite for over thirty years, but this will be the first presentation that highlights costumes of the ballet. The online exhibit provides not only a close up look at iconic costumes from the ballet, but also an explanation of their role in the development of the ballet’s well-known characters. “Full-length productions of Nutcracker may have been put on hold this year owing to COVID- restrictions,” says Anaheim Ballet Artistic Director Sarma Lapenieks Rosenberg “but what a great opportunity to meld both the Muzeo’s and Anaheim Ballet’s resources to offer behind-the- scene insights into the classic tale.”

While the two Anaheim arts organizations have partnered in the past, this is their first shared exhibit. From Muzeo Executive director Katie Adams Farrell, “Muzeo is thrilled to participate in Anaheim Ballet’s celebration of the annual holiday tradition, the Nutcracker. Though of course we’d rather see the production in person, this glimpse into the world of Nutcracker costumes adds wonderful context to the timeless story, brings us closer to its characters, and opens our eyes to the creative and multi-layered artistic process of AB’s Founding Directors and production team.”
