Bring the whole family for hands on art workshops led by internationally acclaimed young artists from Oaxaca, Mexico! Complimentary with Kidseum admission.

12:00 - 1:00  At 14 years of age, Jonatan Melchor Fuentes is already an internationally recognized artist. Jonatan will speak about the art traditions in his village and teach other children how he paints small woodcarvings. 50 woodcarvings hand carved from Copal wood will be available for children to paint. You won't want to miss this great opportunity, and supplies are limited to the first 50 children.

1:00 - 2:00  At the young age of 11, Naomi Santos Pedro is a creative artist who has traveled internationally to demonstrate her artwork. Naomi works in the traditional style of black pottery from her village. Naomi will speak about the traditions in her village and show children how to sculpt clay figures, using their own imaginations as the guide for their creations.

2:00 - 3:00  At the young age of 26, Fernando Peguero won the prestigious Mexican national award as the best young artist in all of Mexico! Fernando's family is quite famous as artisans in clay, and he is now carrying on their traditions in a modern way. He will speak to the families about the ancient traditions surrounding clay in his village, folk legends that he often portrays in his work, and demonstrate how he crafts award winning sculptures out of clay. All family members will have the chance to work together to create their own artwork, with the opportunity to be guided by the best young artist in Mexico!
