National Random Acts of Kindness Day

National Random Acts of Kindness Day

Presented by Pretend City Children's Museum at Pretend City Children's Museum

Specifically for:Children of all ages; Grown-ups

National Random Acts of Kindness Day has grown in popularity each year. It is a day celebrated by individuals, groups, and organizations, nationwide, to encourage acts of kindness. A random act of kindness is a simple kind deed done unexpectedly for someone else.  Ideas for kind deeds could be letting someone in line in front of you at the grocery store, taking out the trash for a neighbor, baking cookies for a friend, giving money to a stranger in need, or volunteering at a non-profit organization like Pretend City. Activities throughout the day will focus on kindness and will include:

• Sensational Story Time: How Full is Your Bucket? By Tom Rath & Mary Reckmeyer - Follow Felix as he learns that each of us has an invisible bucket that is filled or emptied through our everyday interactions with others. When your bucket is full you feel amazing and when it is empty, we feel awful. Learn how to keep your bucket full and tips for how to help fill the buckets of others.

• Smart Art: Make A Kindness Bucket- Create your very own kindness bucket and fill it with kind words. This activity is based on the book, How Full is Your Bucket? By Tom Rath & Mary Reckmeyer

• Literacy Lessons: Pocket full of Feelings-Feelings are real and something that we feel. What matters most is how we deal. Today we will learn some feeling vocabulary words and act out the feelings as we go. Lights, Camera, Action! Put on your best sad, happy, and mad faces!

Play Partner: Pretendgineers and Brain Builders, our experienced stage staff of trained early childhood and child development educators, and grown-ups.
