Family Autism Event

Family Autism Event

Presented by Pretend City Children's Museum at Pretend City Children's Museum

Specifically for: Families with children of all ages who are on the autism spectrum; Pretend City will be closed to the general public

This special evening is an opportunity for children and their parents/siblings/caretakers to have some fun in an autism-friendly environment along with other families. Many of our community partners, who specialize in supporting children on the autism spectrum, will be on-hand to enrich your family’s play experience with welcoming smiles and practical support.

Play Partners: Pretendgineers and Brain Builders, our experienced stage staff of trained early childhood and child development educators, grown-ups

Grown-up Tip: Tasks like going grocery shopping can be tricky for a child with autism because of the sensory overload that accompanies visiting a large supermarket. Prepare your child by making a social story. Make the first visits very short, perhaps purchasing just one item, and building up to larger shopping lists. Print out pictures of the items on your list to serve as the target items to help guide the experience.

RSVP: Register here; max: 300 guests

*Only guests with a reservation and a confirmation number will be admitted.
