Cuñao | Patrick Carrico | Eva and the Vagabond Tales

at Soka University Black Box Theatre

Join us for a night of world folk in the second concert of our series!   Cuñao is a Los Angeles-based, Latin Folk group . They use their South American background & influences to create evocative, poetic songs that transcend time and leave listeners with lush images. A group of multi-ethnic musicians, Cuñao puts a global twist on their Latin sound by exploring African rhythms, Eastern European melodies and American Rock aesthetics.

Patrick Carrico is a man with a dream and a Gretsch guitar. His music has been called everything from "California country" to rockabilly to blues but with his down-home, genuine lyrics, heartfelt melodies and golden tones, his songs have the power to just make you feel damn good and bring you back to a time when things were wonderful. He seems to fit no particular genre, but rest assured, Patrick Carrico's brand of noise-making is for anyone who can appreciate a catchy tune with a heart of gold.

Eva and the Vagabond Tales is an old-time folk group that puts Western, Gypsy Folk, and Ragtime into a musical melting pot, creating an alluring sound that "transcends time and continents". The Southern California based group was formed in 2011 by Eva Mikhailovna and since its formation, the band continues building it's sound from the foundations of old time music and melancholy story-telling, bending the laws of traditional songwriting and sound.
