Crossing Paths: Art & Design

Crossing Paths: Art & Design

Presented by Santa Ana College at Unknown

Santa Ana College’s Fashion Design and Jewelry programs have combined to present a first-ever exhibit entitled “Crossing Paths: Art and Design” to showcase the creation of original textile prints with coordinated jewelry designed and produced by Santa Ana College (SAC) art students. The one-month exhibit will kick off with a fashion show (featuring Santa Ana College students) in conjunction with an opening reception. Curated by SAC assistant professor of fashion design Kyla Benson and SAC art instructor Jennifer Monroe, the exhibit has creative support from Joshua Christensen, Santa Ana College fashion instructor and contestant in season 9 of Project Runway.

The exhibit includes 10 original print designs and coordinated jewelry by Santa Ana College fashion illustration and jewelry design students. The prints were produced as the result of a Santa Ana College Foundation grant which funded the production of making 3-D fabrics from the student’s 2-D designs. To highlight the fabric design and jewelry, the designers made simple “tent dresses” to be featured initially on live models then on mannequins for the remainder of the exhibit.
