About Eric:
Living "the ragtime life" since his high school days, Eric Marchese performs a wide swath of Scott Joplin’s works, and his repertoire includes classic ragtime, early folk rags, popular and Tin Pan Alley tunes, and advanced ragtime pieces that emerged in the 1910s.
He has shared his music at Old Town Music Hall (El Segundo), Sunshine Brooks Theatre (Oceanside) and the Ruth B. Shannon Performing Arts Center (Whittier) and at events like the West Coast Ragtime Festival, Ragtime Pianorama (San Clemente) and Sacramento Ragtime Society's "Ragtime Corner" at the annual Jazz Jubilee.
When performing locally, at libraries, schools, retirement communities and private residences, Marchese offers background on his selections and their composers plus on ragtime music’s overall history. He has composed more than 50 original piano pieces plus a handful more with many of his fellow ragtimers. He co-founded RagFest in 2000 and the Orange County Ragtime Society in 2001.
