Open Diversity Art Festival

Presented by Saddleback College of Fine Arts at Online/Virtual Space

The Open Diversity Arts Festival, sponsored by the Saddleback College, Division of Fine Arts and Media Technology in partnership with the Associated Student Government, aims to educate, through demonstration, representation, and academic exchange, on a myriad of issues that are inherent to BIPOC Artist Scholars and their creative journeys.

Each episode of the Open Diversity Arts Series will pair a Saddleback faculty member with a creative artist whose cultural background and artistic journey creates inspired artistic expression.

Episode 1:  The Sibarg Ensemble explores a creative intercultural music making by combining the sounds of traditional Iranian music and jazz. Through original compositions, arrangements of classical melodies and folksongs, and structured improvisations, ensemble members draw on their own distinct musical backgrounds, while creating a unique dialogue with one another. With each performance, Sibarg sets out to create a sense of unity and peace while facilitating multiculturalism.

A conversation between Saddleback Music Instructors, Joey Sellers and Hesam Abedini (Director of the Sibarg Ensemble) will follow.
