George Samerjan: Paris and Los Angeles

Hilbert Museum of California Art is open with a new exhibit featuring the works of George Samerjan:  Paris and Los Angeles."

The show includes some of his 1930's paintings and a lively series of 12 paintings depicting the Allied liberation of Paris in 1944.

George Samerjan (1915-2005) was a noted California artist whose career encompassed studio fine art and commercial art (he worked as art director for both CBS Radio and the Los Angeles Times).

He also created some remarkable art while serving in Europe as a medical corps officer during WWII, depicting the lives of the G.I.s around him and major Allied operations.
