Santa Ana College Premiers Four Short Films

Presented by Santa Ana College at Frida Cinema, The

Santa Ana College’s first Theatre Arts Motion Picture Performance class will present four short films in conjunction with the college’s Theatre Arts Department. Created by Santa Ana College theatre arts professor and professional actor Christopher Glenn Cannon, the Theatre Arts 255 Motion Picture Performance class launched in fall 2015 when his students wrote, produced, directed and acted in the films. Cannon's background as an actor and performer helped him develop this new curriculum that he says reflects the demands and expectations of professional artists in the 21st century entertainment industry. All films are directed by Cannon and the screenplays are by Shane Jensen Black.

The films include:
Jessie’s All Right (Drama): Stars Andrew Broome, Laura Garcia, Jacqueline Aguilar, Marco Garcia, Jacqueline Castro
Synopsis: Jesse used to be overweight and now he’s not, but his obsession with weight loss has turned unhealthy and takes him down a dark path that even his friends and family cannot save him from.

Boy and Girl (Drama): Stars Justin Lira, Mica Munn
Synopsis: Jake is an average college student determined to overcome heartbreak. After being dumped by his girlfriend, Jake finds himself caught up in the world of online dating and websites promising sexual encounters. He becomes so engrossed in this new and exciting cyber reality that he begins to lose the ability to see the opportunities that are right in front of him.

Mortals (Science Fiction/Horror): Stars Danny Gonzalez, Amanda Van Smaalen, J.R. Perry
Synopsis: Kris is a young professional who has just received some life-altering news when she is summoned by the reclusive owner of the multimillion dollar corporation she works for. It seems like the opportunity of a lifetime, but what Kris discovers will challenge the very fabric of what it means to be human.

Boogey (Horror): Stars Tyler Sypherd, Anthony Ramirez, Leda Valencia, Charlie Jimenez, Jose Mendoza, Alex Castaneda, Katie Sullivan
Synopsis: Nick is obsessed with an online forum dedicated to unsolved cases. Through the course of a series of strange videos posted online, he stumbles onto something dark and sinister that cannot be explained.
