Arjona explores the history and practices of the Mexican bingo, tracing and evaluating the origins of each of the 54 images of Lotería from a racial and gender point of view. This book is also a bilingual compilation of the most popular rhymes and riddles that traditionally accompany these images, underlining the importance of the announcer, known as “gritón” during the game.
