Heartbeat of Mexico

Presented by Musco Center for the Arts and Chapman University College of Performing Arts (CoPA) and Imagination Celebration at Musco Center for the Arts

On Friday, May 27, Musco Center Present La Santa Cecilia, a band named after the Roman Catholic patron saint of music. La Santa Cecilia takes inspiration from music worldwide to create their modern Latin rock sound that mixes cumbia, bossa-nova, rumba, bolero, tango, jazz, and klezmer music. Accordionist and requinto player Jose ‘Pepe’ Carlos, bassist Alex Bendaña, percussionist Miguel ‘Oso’ Ramirez, and vocalist ‘La Marisoul’ write songs about love and loss, which resonate with their fans, especially the bicultural community in the United States that appreciates the Latin American influences in their sound.
