The Cultural Art of the Seri Tribe in Sonora Mexico

The Cultural Art of the Seri Tribe in Sonora Mexico

Presented by Bowers Museum at Bowers Museum

The Seri are a cultural treasure of Mexico, and the women within this indigenous group of Sonora are responsible for producing incredible handwoven articles.

Join Mike Gray and Damien Paul Montaño, both of whom have been working with the Seri for decades on collaborative community development projects and cultural exchanges, as they discuss the gathering and process required to prepare the soft fibers for weaving the beautiful articles that they produce. The women will demonstrate their creative ability and have their work for sale.
