Sherman Library & Gardens presents a two-part workshop, The Art of Eco Printing, with Reem Khalil. Explore the art of eco-printing, a contemporary application of the traditions of natural dyeing.
On September 21st you will be transferring plant dye onto fiber using heat to draw out the tannins. On September 28th you will stretch out the printed fibers onto archival canvas and apply a thoughtful composition using modeling paste for texture, different artful papers, drawings and more.
The class is instructed by Reem Khalil of the LOCA (Laguna Outreach Community Arts). As well as exhibiting widely as a textile mixed media artist, Reem is an award winning surface designer and former Head Visual Designer for the Anthropologie company.
