Join us for a magical week celebrating Banned Books Week and the Grand Opening of the new location of Lido Village Books at Lido Marina Village.

Banned Books Week is an annual event that celebrates the freedom to read and will be held nationwide from September 18-24, 2022. Launched in response to the surge of challenges to books in schools, bookstores, and libraries in 1982, Banned Books Week focuses on bringing together the entire book community in support of the freedom to express ideas, even those that are considered unorthodox or controversial. Lido Village Books in Newport Beach will celebrate Banned Books Week by having special displays of banned books for all ages and will offer 10% off all banned books during that week.

The week of celebration will culminate in the Grand Opening of Lido Village Books’ new location within Lido Marina Village with a day full of events you won’t want to miss.  There will be crafts all day (nominal fee), free balloons, and lots of fun. Children’s story time will take place from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. When you make a purchase of $10 or more at the grand opening event, choose a tiny “banned book” from our fan-favorite tiny bookshelf and win a prize, which range from fancy \"banned\" book cookies to gift cards, banned books pins and a tote filled with reading essentials. Spend $50 or more and receive a special banned book cookie. Nothing But Words will begin at 5:00 PM where writers will be able to share their latest works at an open mic. Following Nothing But Words, we will have Banned Book trivia to finish off the day.
