Indian Dance Workshop: Nethra/eyes in Abhinaya

Indian Dance Workshop: Nethra/eyes in Abhinaya

Presented by Arpana Dance Company at Online/Virtual Space

Ramya Harishankar will share the importance of Nethra/eyes in abhinaya in any of the Indian classical dance forms. Though not the only mode , they are at the core of nuanced, layered communication of thoughts, emotions and stories. A powerful tool to reach out and invite the audience to share your space.

Workshop is open to students and dancer of all genders and forms of dance. We welcome dancers/students from various different forms of dance to take part in this workshop.

At the moment it will be held on Zoom but maybe become a hybrid event.

This workshop is a fundraiser forĀ "Found in Translation" a collaboration between two artists andĀ  researchers - Shabari Rao and Kumudha Chandrasekaran, aimed at bridging conceptual thinking and dance practice. The intent is to revisit familiar concepts in dance such as repertoire and improvisation. This project aims to suggest one way to overcome the theory/practice divide and highlight the synergy between the two. All proceeds from this workshop will support this project.
