In February, the Solo, Duo, Trio show will feature two cabaret performances by BIPOC artists.
On February 11th, “a night of music and laughs by a local girl living right under our noses” will take shape in Tales of a 5 Foot Nothing, a one-woman show by Nohely Quiroz. She narrates the stories worth telling of her Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious career with audacity, wry humor, and a little help from you.
On February 12th, Allan Cason, long-time OC-based emcee, musician, writer, and rock impresario, presents his one-man cabaret, Mr. Soul – The Sam Cooke Story, conceived and written by collaborator Joel-Steven Hammond. "The more I thought about the Sam Cooke saga, the more I knew that his story needed to be told. An undeniable ever-lasting legacy cut short in his prime and buried under Los Angeles racial tensions and police corruption. A story is important today as it was the day Sam Cooke died; [this is the story of] his service in church, the rise to fame, the stifling of his genius, the awakening of his social conscience, the struggle, the music, the man."
