Embroidery: From the Hermitage Collection to Hollywood with Shelley Komarov

Presented by Bowers Museum at Bowers Museum

Emmy Award-winning costume designer Shelley Komarov discusses the history of embroidery through her own experience with the craft throughout her 25-year career. From her assignment of studying the art of embellishments from the Hermitage collection of Royal clothes to the ways in which she applied her knowledge of clothing history to designing costumes for films and television, this presentation will include funny stories from Hollywood and where Shelley’s fashion career has led her today.

This lecture is made possible through a generous bequest by Lynda Thomas (1950-2021).
