In recognition of Black History Month, Media Arts Santa Ana (MASA) invites the community to a virtual discussion with Makeda Dread, Founder of San Diego’s World Beat Cultural Center.  Makeda will discuss, the documentaries, Summer of Soul and WattsTax.  We’ll discuss the cultural significance of the concerts and the documentaries, as well as Makeda’s own work producing cultural music festivals in San Diego.

The documentaries chronicled the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival and the 1972 Los Angeles benefit concert commemorating the 7th Anniversary of the 1965 Watts Riots.  View on HBOMax or Disney+.
