Short Films: Little Saigon Stories

Presented by Vietnamese American Arts and Letters Association (VAALA) and OC Public Libraries (OCPL) at OC Public Libraries-Garden Grove Main Library

The Vietnamese American Arts and Letters Association (VAALA) with OC Public Libraries presents Little Saigon Stories, a curated selection of short films.  Viet Film Fest’s very own Artistic Director, Eric Nong, will take you through 5 curated short films, previously shown at the festival. These include “Granny Boot Camp” (2022), “Savory” (2021), “Iris” (2022), “The Morning Passing on El Cajon Boulevard” (2019), and “Like Mother, Like Daughter” (2018).

Plus, there will be a filmmakers talk after the screening with some of the directors in house to talk about their film and their process.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Westminster became home to a large number of Vietnamese refugees who revitalized the area by establishing new businesses and services, creating the Little Saigon neighborhood. Little Saigon continues to thrive as a place to live and work, and as a cultural focal point and symbol of community. Little Saigon Stories seeks to preserve the experiences of Orange County’s Vietnamese-American community.

This program is for adults only.
