Segerstrom Center for the Arts is pleased to present Jeanine De Bique with Concerto Köln. Trinidadian soprano Jeanine De Bique appears with renowned period instrument orchestra Concerto Köln in a program celebrating female protagonists. Juxtaposing a series of Handel heroines against their counterparts in operas by Handel’s contemporaries, Carl Heinrich Graun and Riccardo Broschi, De Bique will sing arias from works such as Rodrigo, Giulio Cesare, Rodelinda, Partenope, and more.
This performance marks the West Coast premiere of three works discovered by Concerto Köln and being sung on tour for the very first time, which include Graun’s “Risolvere non oso“ and “L’empio rigor del fato“ from Rodelinda and Broschi’s “Mi restano le lagrime“ from L’isola d’ Alcina.
