Welcome Home

Shepard Fairey, 2017

The Welcome Home mural by Shepard Fairey is an amalgamation of several different visual motifs and themes showing both the symbiosis between humans and nature and the independence of surf culture. The work is a message of peace, independence, and the beauty and openness of humanity and nature.

Spanning a creative period of more than 28 years, Shepard Fairey’s stickers, guerilla street art presence, and more than 80 public murals have become recognizable worldwide. His work has evolved into an acclaimed body of art that includes the 2008 “Hope” portrait of Barack Obama, found at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. Baker Block is the location for his first Orange County mural.

At 136-feet long by 55-feet high, the mural is more than 8,000 square-feet and required more than 460 cans of spray paint.
