Aaron De La Cruz, 2019
Influenced by the burgeonig graffiti and skateboard culture of Fresno, California in the late 1980’s – early 1990’s, Aaron De La Cruz’s sculpture relies on the strength of steel to demonstrate the beautiful asymmetry of family life. The design overcomes barriers of separation to find connection, leaving the viewer with a feeling that much is contained. There is a sense of the immenent outgrowing, earning an appreciation for the moment in which all fits neatly together. This piece is inpired by family – the difference, the balance, and the intentionality of each member.
