This mosaic, Beach Scenes by Millard Sheets, was purchased by Mark Hilbert for the Hilbert Museum of California Art and was dismantled on June 19, 2019 with the assistance of Tony Sheets. During the museum's renovation the mosaic sits in storage. It will be re-installed on the exterior facade of the Museum completed by June 2023.
This mosaic was originally untitled. It was a part of Millard Sheets' series of commissioned mosaics for Home Savings building facades in Southern California. Most mosaic commissions by Sheets were untitled. It was popularly known as "Beach Scenes" or "Pleasures Along the Beach." Public Art in Public Places applied this title to the mosaic, it might be renamed when installed.
It was located at 26th Street and Wilshire Blvd before being moved to the Hilbert Museum.
