Ruth Peabody, 1933

Ruth Peabody was born in Illinois in 1898 and attended the Art Institute of Chicago prior to moving to Laguna Beach in 1924 with her mother Eleanor Colburn. Ruth first worked on creating fountain sculptures, such as this one, before turning to painting. This installation is the oldest public art sculpture in the City’s collection.
