This mural by Brian Peterson depicting the residents of The Orchard. The 72-unit complex near the city’s eastern edge. Debuted in Feb. 2018, as the first permanent supportive housing project in Santa Ana, residents began moving in 2016. The last unit was completed Feb. of 2018. The mural painted on the backside of the Orchard in Santa Ana features the faces and quotes of residents at the new permanent supportive housing complex for 71 chronically homeless people. The $18 million project is Santa Ana’s first permanent supportive housing project, backed by housing vouchers from the city totaling nearly $1 million annually.
