Farid Rueda Mural

Farid Rueda Mural

Farid Rueda, Diana Anderson, and Westminster High School, 2022

The Farid Rueda Mural was painted by Farid Rueda, Diana Anderson, and Westminster High School students. This is the seventh mural in a series of murals done in collaboration with a muralist and Westminster High School Students. Rueda is one of the most well-known street muralists in Mexico. He has created several large murals in 24 different countries. The 40-foot long mural is his second in the United States.

For the past few years, except for 2 years during the pandemic, Diana Anderson has invited international artists to work alongside her students to give them a chance to learn different art techniques and styles from people they have learned about in class. Diana Anderson and her 180 students began painting the mural on May 16 on Monday and continued until Friday May 20.

“Working with students was something new for me. I have to say that the concept for the mural was not totally mine,” Rueda said. “It was a collaboration with the students. They made a sketch that was inspired by my work. We talked about it and I gave them my advice.”
