Home Sweet Home Mural

Home Sweet Home Mural

Brian Peterson, 2022

Home Sweet Home by Brian Peterson is the first in a series of murals that United to End Homelessness plans to roll out across Orange County. The murals are intended to serve as a catalyst for change to inspire every citzen to be a part of the solution to end homelessness in Orange County.

Located at the First Methodist church in Costa Mesa, the mural is an immersice and interactive depiction of what every homeless person needs: a safe and comfortable place to call home. One side of the building reads “What solves homelessness?” while another side illustrates a furnishned family room with a yellow couch and a painting of Robert Morse, a former homeless man who now spends this time helping homeless persons and families.

A portion of a couch protrudes from the mural allowing people to sit in the home and take pictures. Peterson is the founder of Faces of Santa Ana, an organization dedicated to supporting people experiencing homelessness through art and creativity.
