Stairwave created by Mia Tavonatti is a mosaic tile installation mural installed on the 118-step staircase at Lantern Bay Park. The stairs of Lantern Bay Park to Dana Point Harbor Drive comprises 364-feet of mosaic tile. The tile installation was created to depict a dramatic and colorful wave that breaks accross these 118 stairs.

The artist Mia Tavonatti said that, “Having spent over a year working on Stairwave, the 118-step mosaic I designed that created for the City of Dana Point I am overwhelmed by the dedication of my team and all the local volunteers who showed up to help. I am amazed by how the work turned out and the community’s positive reception to it. I am truly honored to have been entrusted with this project envisioned by the Arts Commission. The city workers and tile contractor were endlessly supportive and did everything in their power to make this installation a success which, I am happy to say, was in all way what I hoped for.”
