The Indigenous Life of Southern California

Tom Van Sant, 1968

The Indigenous Life of Southern California by Tom Van Sant is a sculpture project that consists of 39 exposed aggregate concrete panels. The panels are distributed among the three buildings of the Irvine Financial Plaza (now Pacific Financial Plaza) in Newport Beach, California. Each panel represents a portion of the diverse life of this semi-arid region.

Located in Newport Beach within walking distance to Fashion Island, Pacific Financial Plaza is a Class “A” office totaling 279,474 SF. The property consists of two 7-story office buildings and a third building consisting of a 2-story split level structure. The three buildings that comprise Pacific Financial Plaza are located around a pedestrian plaza area that forms a decl over a grade-level parking garage.
