Children's Museum at La Habra
The Children’s Museum at La Habra opened in December 1977 and is located in a historic 1923 Train Depot. The museum features seven galleries and fourteen different hands on exhibits, many of which remain unique to the field today. There is also an outdoor dinosaur topiary and historic 1942 caboose. The Children’s Museum at La Habra shows how important play is to learning. Through play, children develop skills, express creativity, discover the larger world and learn to work with others.
The Children’s Museum features permanent exhibits that include:
Nature Walk: Touch taxidermy wild animals in an indoor setting.
Model Train Village: Watch five trains running through a miniature village. Interactive electronic games on the walls reflect transportation history.
Nannies Travels: Explore cultural stories, art, clothing and customs from Russia and Asia in this cozy living room setting.
Carousel Room: Young children can take a sign on an authentic Dentzel Carousel. Shop ’til you drop in the Mini Market and climb aboard Buster the Bus.
Buster the Bus: Play passenger or driver on a real OCTA bus.
The Caboose: Board a genuine railroad car with history displays.
Science Station: Dig for dinosaur bones in the dig site.
Clubhouse H2O: The exhibit features a kitchen and bathroom area where visitors can learn how to conserve the Earth’s resources in daily routines. Clubhouse H2O includes a recycling water system that exemplifies the principles of water, sewer and refuse conservation.
Kids On Stage: Perform on stage or work magic behind the scenes in this fun theater gallery. Costumes, musical instruments, scripts, special lighting and a microphone are provided.
Pre-school Playpark: Children from birth through five years old will enjoy creative playing and learning in this indoor park-like setting.
