Well Beings Studio

Well Beings Studio

Well Beings Studio engages the creative arts to open communication and support emotional well-being of families impacted by cancer, other traumas and difficult times. We focus on understanding emotions; processing change, grief and loss; and utilizing reading, writing, and creative arts for well-being. We work to dismantle stigmas about cancer, emotions, and asking for help. We are committed to inclusion, equity, and sharing multiple voices and diverse perspectives on creativity and wellness.

Well Beings Studio (WBS) began in 2018 with the Little Green Monster Project, an original book and workshop created by executive director Sharon Frances, a breast cancer survivor, parent and artist with a doctorate in education. In its first year, the project supported over 2,000 families with book donations and free creative arts workshops.  We learned that our approach to exploring emotions through creativity not only supported young people impacted by cancer but also those experiencing other traumas such as grief and loss. Well Beings Studio was born, ready to read, feel, create, heal.

COVID-19 UPDATES & INFORMATION

Our Response to COVID-19:

After two years of in-person events, workshops and school residencies for families impacted by cancer and other traumas in Santa Ana and Orange County, Well Beings Studio began offering virtual programming in March 2020 due to COVID-19. We recognize that many families are feeling the hardship and trauma of the virus and its impact on our relationships, school, work and the economy. We invite any family impacted by COVID-19 to participate in our free creative arts workshops and other resources and experiences.
