Coyotl-Coyote
Larry Gonzalez Rivas, 2022
This sculpture is located across the street from Abraham Lincoln Elementary School. The sculpture "Coyotl/Coyote" was made by Santa Ana artist Larry Gonzalez. The 14-foor piece of welded metal in the stylized shape of a coyote is inspired by the Nahuatl poetry of the Aztec ruler Nezahualcoyotl. This piece is being dedicated to another Santa Ana resident, David Vazquez, who worked throughout his life to preserve the language and culture of the Nahuatl. Vasquez died last year.
