Sunset Years Miriam Baker and Rhoda Jones, 2016 In celebration of the Balboa Island Centennial in 2016, sculptors Miriam Baker and Rhonda Jones - with support from the Balboa Island Improvement Association - donated the sculpture to the City of Newport Beach. The piece, created by Ms. Baker and fellow artist Rhonda Jones, is a representational life-size bronze of an elderly couple seated on a bench enjoying the sunset. The piece is meant to serve as an appreciation and celebration of Balboa Island life.

Support Louis Longi, 1999 211 North Coast Highway Funded through a donation by the Inn at Laguna Artist Designed Bench “Support” created by Laguna Beach artist Louis Longi pays homage to the City’s long history and commitment to the arts, both through public art and the annual art festivals. The installation also gives visitors a respite at one of the most panoramic views in town. Three hallow figures support the seat, giving the bench its name. City of Laguna Beach public art collection.

Surfers at Sunset Lance Jost, 2009 Four mosaic scenes representing different facets of Dana Point from the historical Dana Point welcome sign to the humpback whale breaching in front of the harbor. Lance Jost did Surfers at Sunset and another mural with a humpback whale motif.

Synchronicity Wyland, 1995 Funded by Wyland Art in Public Places This was Wyland’s first life-size bronze sculpture of a female dolphin and her calf. Dolphins, like humans, rely considerably on body contact for communication. Mothers and calves such as this pair created in bronze are often in close contact for long periods of time. Wyland observed “Dolphins are very affectionate.” City of Laguna Beach public art collection.
